Book 2, Post 1 - Feel-Good Productivity

Ever since I was little, I have always believed that if I put my mind to something and worked hard, grinding out those hours, I could achieve anything. Studying was just studying to me. For instance, if I were studying for an accounting exam, I would review all the slides and do the practice problems. Maybe even twice. This applied to all of my classes, and it was rather a robotic process. The only goal I had in my mind was to try to retain all the information so I could do my best on the exam and get good grades. The method worked most of the time, so I never thought to change it. However, I knew this method probably didn’t make the best use of my time, and I could approach studying differently.  I wanted to read Feel-Good Productivity: How to Do More of What Matters to You by Ali Abdaal because I was intrigued by the idea of “feel-good productivity” and how I could apply it to my life. How could I make studying more enjoyable for myself? Would it make it less tedious? How could I...

Random Post #1 - Mini Europe Travel Guide

Image
Thinking of taking a trip to Europe for winter or summer break but not sure where to go? You’re just in luck! As someone who studied abroad last semester in Brussels, Belgium, and lived in Europe for four months, I can tell you which places I visited were worth it– and which weren’t. But, warning, take them with a grain of salt. These are just based on my personal experiences, so to each their own! :) Athens, Greece Ah, my personal favorite. It had everything I wanted in a European city. I like visiting cities rich in culture and history, have great food and weather, and are fairly inexpensive. Athens checked all of these boxes for me. We spent the days exploring archaeological sites, such as the Temple of Zeus and the Acropolis. I remember thinking to myself: wow, I can’t believe I’m here right now. I’ve seen pictures of them online before, but I never thought there would once be a day I would see them in person. I loved going around the ruins and reading the signs to learn more about...

Book 1, Post 2

Ever since I was little, I’ve always been interested in astronomy.  Now, I wouldn’t go as far as to say I’m an astronomy expert, but I was always fascinated by the universe and how it all began. How did the universe start? What was there beyond our solar system? Was there life out there? I wanted to learn more. As an 8-year-old, I’d watch YouTube documentaries, trying to visualize and make sense of it all. It blew my mind to think that we lived on a planet within a solar system—just one among hundreds of billions in the ever-expanding universe. It didn’t seem real, but yet it was. I was in awe.  However, as I grew older and became more occupied with school and other hobbies, my interest in astronomy subsided. I never touched the topic again – until recently. When I realized one of the reading options included a memoir about the demotion of Pluto, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to revive the interest. Just from the title How I Killed Pluto and Why It Had It Coming ...
